***5 ‘All In’ Stars***
After devouring Bound by Desire I had two reactions:
1) I absolutely-fucking-lutely ADORED. Deke and Riley!
2) I NEEDED to know what Austyn would do in the aftermath of the horrific crazyness she went through and what Ryker would do to get her to welcome him into her heart.
So, you can imagine how happy I was that their book would be up next and I must say that I absolutely loved everything about Bound by Vengeance. From Austyn and Ryker’s journey to their HEA to how the Vengeance was attained and meted out, it was practically perfect and had just the right blend of humor, heart and heat throughout the entire story, as well some great moments with the Ravage MC.
Austyn. She went through hell and yet she has come out of that experience with the determination to live and do it on her own terms. This doesn't mean that she is whole, in fact there are many pieces that are still broken, but she isn't about to let them, or him, win...at least when it comes to certain aspects of her life. I admired her strength and heart and even though my heart hurt for all that she went through, and was still going through, I loved watching as she navigated through it all and came out stronger in the end.
Ryker. I loved Ryker from the moment I met him. Irreverent and unrepentant. The man lives his life on his terms and if you don’t like it, he’ll flip you off and forget you exist. The only loyalty, outside of himself, he has is to the Ravage MC and those they call their own. I went from loving this man to absolutely adoring him. He is so much more than what he appears to be. He is honorable, compassionate and more than willing to offer to help when needed, but he also believes that one needs to make their own choices, even if he doesn’t agree with it.
I thoroughly enjoyed Ryker and Austyn’s journey to their HEA. Their road was bumpy, and how couldn’t it be with everything going on around them on, but it wasn’t a total angst fest and I was grateful for that. There was enough drama going on without the romance becoming angsty. There was a lot of push/pull, but it was to be expected and I loved how Ryker breached Austyn’s walls, helped her confront her demons without and made her stronger for it in the end. Their bantering was fun, the chemistry between them intense, and I loved how they became each other’s safe havens.
I was very curious to see the direction the author would take this story, especially after reading the blurb as well as the teasers etc that had been released and I have to say I really enjoyed the direction she took Austyn and Ryker’s story. It was well thought out and executed and felt true to how they would handle everything. There are situations in this one that will fall under the “trigger” category for some readers, but they aren’t used gratuitously and are pertinent in the growth of the characters. And as always, I loved the moments with the Ravage MC family as a whole, though there were no clear cut clues as to which Ravage MC kid would be up next. I know who I’d like to see on the chopping block, but in the meantime I’ll practice a little patience and wait and see.
