~**~ ARC Review: Capturing Fate (Fatal Truth #2) by Abbie Roads ~**~

***5 ‘Snake’ Stars***

I’ve been waiting for Dolan and Daught’s story for a long LONG time and the author did not disappoint. This was a crazy ride from start to finish and there were quite a few “W.T…?!?!” that came out of my mouth, but I was hooked until the very end.

I loved Dolan and Daughter aka Daught. They are resilient, determined and have a code of honor and sense of loyalty that drew me in. They also have murky pasts that, as they come to light, make them even more amazing for all that they’ve accomplished in their lives. Their journey to their HEA is a strange mix of insta and insanely slow burn goodness, but they worked for me. They had that connection, that unexplainable thing that made it easy to see just how great they’d be together and I have to say that they got put through the wringer in this one and totally deserve all the goodness they got in the end.

The wait for this book was worth it. The mind f*ck factor definitely made me do a few double takes along the way, but in the end, it was all worth it. The triggers are many, but if you’ve read Saving Mercy or the Fatal Dreams series you know that it all has a purpose.  The twists and turns were done well and it looks like we may be getting a spin off...maybe...hopefully *BSEG*

Note: While this book can be read as a stand-alone, I do recommend that you read Saving Mercy first to fully understand all that is going on.

Can love untangle a web of lies and expose the truth?

A loner with a mysterious childhood…

FBI agent Dolan Watts is no stranger to pain. From his childhood spent in foster care to his daily grind of hunting down hardened criminals, it’s been the one constant through the years. Pain carved out gut feelings he can trust and instincts able to solve cases in record time. Until now. Confronted by a malicious new enemy who revels in mind games, Dolan begins to doubt his own perceptions. Fearing he’s spiraling into insanity, he seeks help from the one woman who can shine light into the darkness consuming him.

A woman haunted by a secret…

Psychologist Daughter Dawson sabotaged her own safety the moment she accepted Dolan as a client. Still, she felt compelled to help him. Dolan’s past mirrored many of the questions about her own, making his torment achingly familiar. Despite their growing attraction, her career demands she keep an ethical distance. Yet when she makes the mistake of confiding in him, both their lives are thrust into unimaginable danger.

Nightmares come to life…

When gruesome tragedy uncovers a serial killer’s twisted agenda, Daughter and Dolan must cling to each other if they hope to survive. Can they stop the body count from rising? Or will they find their only purpose from the start was to be pawns in a reign of evil?

My Review

Abbie Roads loves Snickers Parfaits and acrylic pour painting. It’s her new obsession. The pour painting. Not the parfaits. Though the parfaits would qualify as an obsession too. She spends her days a mental health counselor always looking on the brightside, but at night she likes to write dark and dangerous things—with kissing and sexy times. She loves reading inspirational quotes and stories about serial killers. She is married to her favorite fellow and they have two cranky old rescue dogs that are not spoiled. Not at all. Okay. Maybe a little. Alright, the dogs are terribly spoiled, but they do give lots of cuddles and kisses in return.

Her first book RACE THE DARKNESS was a Publishers Weekly Top 10 Pick for Fall.
