~**~ Blog Tour for Weights of Wrath (Cipher Office #4) by M.E. Carter w/ Excerpt & Review ~**~

Weights of Wrath, an all-new surprise pregnancy romantic comedy from M.E. Carter, is now available in Kindle Unlimited!

Rosalind Palmer was blessed with the perfect stage name. Or so sheā€™s been told. There are just a few problems with it:

1) Her family doesnā€™t know sheā€™s a stripper

2) Sheā€™d like to keep it that way

3) She got over the nickname somewhere around seventh grade.

Unfortunatelyā€”because she likes her job and she really likes her independenceā€”her unexpected pregnancy means Rosalindā€™s days on a pole are numbered. Even so, she's determined to make this co-parenting thing work.

Joey Marshall never thought much about having kids until he got the text announcing his impending fatherhood. Now itā€™s all he can think about. But there are a few concerns:

1) He doesn't know anything about babies.

2) Adulting usually leads to disaster.

3) Itā€™s his best friendā€™s cousin he knocked up.

First things first, making sure his babyā€™s mama is in this for the long haul. Because now he's got baby on the brain, he can't wait to make this co-parenting thing into so much more.

Now all he has to do is convince Rosalind, which shouldn't be too hard . . . right?

Join us at Weight Expectations. You never know what to expect.

'Weights of Wrath' is a full-length contemporary romance, and can be read as a standalone. Book #4 in the Cipher Office series, Seduction in the City World, Penny Reid Book Universe.

***5 Stars***

I freakinā€™ ADORED this book!

I didnā€™t expect to, I mean, I figured Iā€™d end up loving it because Iā€™ve loved the other books in the series by the author, but holy hell, I was a goner from the first chapter and I NEED more of Joey and Rosalind...itā€™s really that simple.

Now the reason I didnā€™t expect to adore this book was because of Joey. In previous books I kinda sorta wanted to throttle the man a time or two, and there were still a couple of moments in this one where that feeling popped up, but to put it simply ~ he is on the laminated book boyfriend list. He hit ALL the right buttons. As for Rosalind. I adored her snark and drive. This woman definitely made her life her own and I couldnā€™t help but admire her. She has her quirks and her walls, but the funny thing is that I got it. I got why she felt the way she did, why she did or didnā€™t do things. I just got her.

As for their journey, it was simply a lot of fun to experience. They are opposites in a lot of ways, but they worked. They truly saw who the other person was and genuinely liked who that person was ~ the good, the crazy, the snarky and the unedited ~ and in the end, I absolutely loved them together.

This really was such a fun read. The angst was on the low end, which I really liked because the whole surprise baby trope can get angsty, and I just liked how everything played out. I loved catching up with Elliott and Abel and the girls. The ladies at the gym were hilarious, Rosalindā€™s family were awesome and I loved what Stan and Nicolas brought to the story. I have no clue who is up next on the chopping block for the series, but I do hope that Joey and Rosalind pop up because I will NEED updates!

Audiobook: Coming later this year!

My door opens quietly, and I immediately sit up, knowing thereā€™s only one person it could be.

ā€œRosalind? Are you okay?ā€

Seeing me awake, she quickly slips in and shuts the door behind her. Her long legs are bare, ass barely hidden by an oversized t-shirt thatā€™s sliding off one shoulder. Her hair is pulled up so I can see the gracefulness of her neck. She looks beautiful in the moonlight and I canā€™t help wondering if this is a good time to finally kiss her again.

But no. We need to build a solid relationship. I donā€™t want to pressure her into anything sheā€™s not ready for.

Gliding up to my bed, she pulls the covers back. ā€œMove over.ā€

ā€œWhat?ā€ Okay, I donā€™t think sheā€™s ready for anything sexual, but now Iā€™m not so sure.

She sighs sounding as exhausted as my body feels. ā€œMy bed is uncomfortable. And my room has shitty ventilation. I am the baby mama. Move over.ā€

ā€œIsnā€™t it the same bed youā€™ve been sleeping on for years? Suddenly, itā€™s uncomfortable?ā€ I poke playfully. Really I donā€™t mind her being in here. I just canā€™t resist the chance to see the fire in her eyes.

ā€œI donā€™t make my body hurt,ā€ she retorts as she slides under the sheets. ā€œI just try to accommodate whatever it wants right now.ā€

Admittedly, sheā€™s not wrong. I got a preview of her mattress when I flopped down on it after moving it up two flights of stairs. It is pretty shitty. ā€œOkay.ā€ I move out of the middle and onto the far side of the bed as she moans her appreciation for a quality pillowtop. I may not be domestic at all, but a man knows the benefit of a good nightā€™s sleep after a hard day at the gym. Still, Iā€™m not positive of her intentions, and sheā€™s been staring in my dreams for weeks now, so I need to clear something up.

ā€œDoes this mean we get to have sex now?ā€

Rosalind snorts a laugh and punches the pillow as she settles in. ā€œNo.ā€

ā€œWhat? Youā€™re moving into my bed, and I donā€™t get any of the benefits?ā€ I joke back.

ā€œYou get the benefit of my presence and knowing your baby and I are both getting a good nightā€™s rest.ā€

Sheā€™s got me there. At this point, their safety and well-being are my biggest priorities. I suddenly understand why Abel is such a worry wart when I babysit.

Donā€™t give her too much sugar, Joey.

Donā€™t let her stay up too late, Joey.

Donā€™t burn the house down trying to cook spaghetti, Joey.

One time. It was one time that I blew up the spaghetti pot.

I make a quick mental note never to make spaghetti around my child.

ā€œHey, Rosalind?ā€ I clasp my hands behind my head, staring up at the ceiling again.

ā€œHmm.ā€

ā€œAre you nervous?ā€

She takes a deep breath, and I get the feeling sheā€™s been up all night, wrestling with her thoughts, too. ā€œAbout which part?ā€

ā€œI thinkā€¦ maybe, all of it?ā€

Rosalind rolls over, putting her hands under her cheek as she stares me dead in the eye. ā€œIā€™m terrified. What if Iā€™m not cut out for this, Joey?ā€

ā€œWhat do you mean? I saw you with Mabel and Ainsley at Thanksgiving. They love you. Youā€™re a natural with kids.ā€

ā€œMabel and Ainsley are easy,ā€ she retorts. ā€œI smile and laugh and talk to them like real people. I donā€™t have to keep them alive. I donā€™t know how to keep a baby alive.ā€

Shit. Sheā€™s right. ā€œNeither do I.ā€

We lie there some more, lost in our own thoughts again. Iā€™m so excited to become a dad and Iā€™m equally as terrified, which is such a weird feeling. There is so much that can go wrong. So much I donā€™t know how to do yet. So much to expect that I havenā€™t even thought of. Babysitting Mabel and Ainsley is easy. Pop in a Wii game and let them go nuts. But a baby? Thatā€™s a whole different thing Iā€™ve never done before.

About M.E. Carter

My name is M.E. Carter and I have no idea how I ended up writing books. Iā€™m more of a story teller (the more exaggerated the better) and I happen to know people who helped me get those stories on paper. I love reading (read almost 200 books last year), hate working out (but I do it anyway because my trainer makes me), love food (but hate what it does to my butt) and love traveling to non-touristy places most people never see. I live in Houston with my four kids, Mary, Elizabeth, Carter and Bug, who was just a twinkle in my eye when I came up with my pen name. Yeah, Iā€™ll probably have to pay for his therapy someday for being left out.
