This was a great start to a new series. It had all the little things that I love about small towns, plus a Hatfield and McCoy style feud amongst its citizens, a single dad that made my ovaries exploded and a fun grumpy/sunshine opposites attract romance that kept me turning the pages and had me wishing there was more when the end came.
I adored Lark and Wyatt. Lark is a free spirit, but one who is focused on a goal and is willing to put in the work to get it. She’s sassy, sweet and comfortable in her own skin. Wyatt can be a grump, but he comes by it honestly and the grump tends to disappear when his paternal side comes out. He’s got a lot on his shoulders, but does his best to manage it all the best way he can.
Their journey to their HEA was a lot of fun. Their first collison was less than cute, but the more they find themselves around each other, the more they realize how much they like to be around each other ~ and not only in between the sheets. But add in the very cute and precocious Pickle and neither stands a chance against cupid’s arrow. While there are no huge obstacles in their road, they do come up against what they truly want their lives to look like, and though it takes them a minute to figure things out, when they do, they get a very well deserved HEA.
This is only the second book by this author I’ve read, and as with the first, I thoroughly enjoyed it. The small town vibe is strong ~ OMG is it strong ~ and I’m always a sucker for the single parent trope and this one was done very well. The angst is on the low end, though there is enough drama to keep things interesting. As for the supporting cast of characters, I’d have to say Lee was my fav, but it’s hard not to love the guy, but I either loved or was fascinated by everyone in the story and I’m totally looking forward to seeing who the next to fall will be ~ especially because there are quite a few to choose from already ~ and find out more about this feud between the Sullivan’s and King’s…so bring on the next book!
