I have a love/hate relationship with second chance stories. I love seeing the couple who were meant to be FINALLY get their HEA, but sometimes the road to that lightbulb moment is rough and this one was rough. But ultimately enjoyable. Even though Calista and Rylan had me wanting to reach through the Kindle and Gibbs smack them many times, I did love them individually and as a couple. It was easy to see how good they were together, and it was just as easy to see that they were their own worst enemies because neither of them could see past their own noses, and crazily enough, I wasn’t “Team” anyone. They were both at fault for their relationship ~ or lack there of ~ being what it was, so watching as they finally figure things out brought me much joy and I am happy with how things worked out for them in the end.
Confession time: I’ve only read one Bailey series book and no Greene series at all. I have read other books by the author and enjoyed them, so I am not a newbie to their words, just this world was basically new to me and I have to say, while I hope to find the time to go back and read both series, I didn’t feel lost. I loved (most of the time) how their family and friends got involved in Calista and Rylan’s journey and just how invested everyone was and cannot wait to head back to Lake Starlight and see what happens with Brinley and Carey.
