***5 ‘So that really just happened’ Stars***
I'm going to start this off by saying that you shouldn't read this review and go in abso-fucking-lutely blind and roll with the punches. And odd thing to put out there? Yes, but it's the truth. But if you choose to continue on, which I would absolutely love, you'll find this to be an extremely non spoilery review.
So since this is gonna be more non spoilery than usual, I'm going to be stepping away from my normal format and do a free flowing, hopefully not too verbal vomity style review...so here goes nothing.
I was hooked from the very first page and within 2.5 hrs I had devoured this story of two people who obviously crave and ache for each other desperately and yet lost the ability to act upon them along the way and I found I needed to know not only how they came together in the first place, but where and how the divide started to grow and I wasn’t disappointed. As their story unfolds and secrets and truths are finally revealed you start to see that not all is lost and all they have to do is reach for it. The journey is painful and yet cathartic on so many levels, I swear I gave myself emotional whiplash, but it was a necessary evil for two people who were so obviously meant to be together and all they needed was a good nudge in the right direction to finally let all the past hurts go and holy hell what a ‘nudge’ it was. And let me tell you, if you ever needed a punch to the gut type of wake up call to get over that final hurdle and finally gain clarity to how much someone means to you, or not, that would be it. Hands. Down. The fallout from that surprising ‘nudge’ was another hell of a roller coaster ride, but in the end I loved how everything finally came together for Dane and Kat.
Considering I finished this book in one sitting tells you just how much I adored this book, and not just the characters, but the entire crazy, smexy as hell (I mean come on it’s Meghan March, you know the smexy is gonna be hot) emotionally draining and uplifting ride. I kinda clued into what some of the secrets were, but not all of them, and did have an “AHA! I knew it!” moment when one of them was revealed, so yay me lol. And though I know this is a standalone, I’m gonna keep my toes crossed that at least one of, if not all *makes big pleading puppy dog eyes*, the supporting cast of characters we meet get their own book one day, because I’d definitely love to see a lot more them!
