***4.5 Stars*** I really enjoyed Releasing the Demons and couldn’t wait to see what the author had in store for us in Black Bullet and I wasn’t disappointed, in fact I found that I enjoyed Jon and Lawan’s story even more. It was was a slow building romance but absolutely satisfying as these two damaged souls worked through their own demons and found solace and redemption in each other. I already liked Jon, aka JJ, after meeting him in the first book, but my heart broke for him as he constantly fought the monster(s) inside him and the emotional rollercoaster he was constantly on because of it. But despite the beatings he was taking, he continued to be that honorable, protective guy who wanted to make the world a better place in any way he could. Lawan is a fighter. What she has lived through is nothing less than horrific and soul crushing, and though she may not be coping with it all in the best way possible, she hasn’t given up.
