~**~ ARC Review: Sweet Sacrifice (Soul Mate Tree #9) by L.D. Rose ~**~

*** 4 Stars*** So, I’ve been waffling over this review for the last oh...48 hours or so, and it hasn’t been because I didn’t like the story, but because I thoroughly enjoyed it and the words that I’ve attempted to put down just haven’t been good enough. Not necessarily a good thing when it comes to doing the reviewer thing, but such is the case. So we’re going to try doing the brain drain method instead and see what comes of it. In a lot of ways Sweet Sacrifice was everything I was expecting. A nice compact second chance at love in a paranormal world novella. The writing was clean and the pacing was very good. What I didn’t expect was the emotional gut punch this one ended up laying on me. From the description I knew that Bash & Irene’s story would pull at my heartstrings, but what I ended up feeling went well beyond that. I really liked both of them and because of that I hurt for both of them. For what they had, what they lost and how devastating the aftermath was for

~**~ Book Review: Black Bullet (The Order of the Senary #2) by L.D. Rose ~**~

***4.5 Stars*** I really enjoyed Releasing the Demons and couldn’t wait to see what the author had in store for us in Black Bullet and I wasn’t disappointed, in fact I found that I enjoyed Jon and Lawan’s story even more. It was was a slow building romance but absolutely satisfying as these two damaged souls worked through their own demons and found solace and redemption in each other. I already liked Jon, aka JJ, after meeting him in the first book, but my heart broke for him as he constantly fought the monster(s) inside him and the emotional rollercoaster he was constantly on because of it. But despite the beatings he was taking, he continued to be that honorable, protective guy who wanted to make the world a better place in any way he could. Lawan is a fighter. What she has lived through is nothing less than horrific and soul crushing, and though she may not be coping with it all in the best way possible, she hasn’t given up. She is out there doing what she was cr

~**~ Review: Releasing the Demons (The Order of the Senary #1) by L.D. Rose ~**~

***4 Stars*** A secret band of brothers fighting against the monsters that go bump into the night is a familiar trope, whether it be in PNR or or otherwise, and it’s one that tends to peak my curiosity because I want to see how the author will make it their own.  And while there are a few things I’m still waffling over a bit, I found Releasing the Demons to be an overall enjoyable first in series read with a good balance of action, humor and characters that I want to know more about. After being taken prisoner and tortured Blaze’s life was tilted on it’s axis, but with the help of his brothers he worked at setting things right and getting back on track with what he was created to do. I really liked Blaze. For all the scars that he bears, both inside and outside, and the constant battle he has going on with the monster within him, he is a good man. He cares about his mission in life and ensuring the safety of those he calls his own, even if he doesn’t realize they are his
