***5 ‘Always Together’ Stars*** I’m a true blue sucker for Beauty and the Beast inspired stories. It doesn’t matter in which manner the author chooses to take it, contemporary, historical, paranormal or even switching things up where the Beast is female. This trope is my catnip and I’ll readily admit that I’ll more than likely trip over myself to get my hands on it (and before you ask, Yes, I will be seeing the Beauty and the Beast Disney movie the day it releases ;)) So it’s no surprise that I jumped at the chance to read this one and I adored it! The author did a beautiful job of keeping those special little moments that a true fan will instantly recognize while giving it her own dark and edgy touch that gives a refreshing and emotional spin to the story. One of the most important components of this trope for me is that I have to hurt for ‘Beast’. ***4 ‘I had no idea it could be this good’ Stars*** I didn’t expect that. The description is accurate. Very much so. But I wasn’t expecting THAT. It’s not a bad thing, not really, because that whole situation kept me at the edge of my seat, but holy hell. But outside of that, I thoroughly enjoyed the book. It was sweet, smexy, suspenseful and filled with characters that I want to get to know better. Logan’s childhood was no fairy tale. He battled every day to keep himself and his brothers safe and left as soon as he could with the knowledge that his brothers were also getting away from the hell they lived in. I really liked Logan. He’s got a good heart and once he sets a path for himself he doesn’t back down. But there were moments where he needed a good swift kick in the arse, in fact one time I really did wish his friend had hit him, but he quickly got his head out of his ass and showed what a good guy he really was. ***5 ‘Definitely a Trigger’ Stars*** This book sent me on an emotional roller coaster ride, but not in the way I expected, or at least not fully. I got a well rounded story of not only two young people falling in love, making decisions that tore them apart and then slowly, sometimes frustratingly so, coming back together and finding that the love they felt as teenagers was timeless, but also of a group of people who became a family by choice and whose bonds only grow stronger as time progresses. Damian has fended for himself since he was a young child as he had to bear the brunt of a cruel, twisted and obsessive mind, which caused him to keep to himself even as the anger from the unjust treatment grew steadily inside him. But one kind gesture changes his entire world. God, my heart hurt for Damian to see what he went through, and how he survived, was brutal, but through strength of will and a little help from outside sources he didn’t fall into the darkness.
