***5 Stars*** Beauty and the Beast is my fav fairytale, so whenever I see a book stating that it’s based on/inspired by…etc, my interest is piqued. When it’s an author I already enjoy, well, I’m all in to see how they will take the tale and make it their own, and boy has this author made it her own and I gotta say that I really enjoyed it. Now, as this is a duet and only the first book in the duet with a bit of a cliffy, this review is going to be short and sweet and vague. Overall, I love Beast and Aurora. Beast is brutal, but he is also protective…as a beast should be. Aurora is an interesting one. At times she is naive but is quite stubborn when she wants to be. As for their journey, there is something between them and they both have what the other seems to need in this world, so we’ll see how things evolve further in the next book. ***4 Stars*** Nothing can ever be easy, can it? Those were the words that popped up in my head many, many times while going on this journey with Nate and Sam, because, heaven help me. Nate did NOT make anything easy. True, he was stuck between a rock and a hard place, but he made things so much more difficult than they needed to be, more interesting for sure. But even though I desperately wanted to shake some sense into him,  I couldn’t keep from turning the pages because the need to find out the ‘secret’ was strong and in the end, it was quite a doozy! Nate and Sam were quite the pair. I really liked them. Both, at their very cores, are good people who are dealing with some stressful situations. ***4 Stars*** I love the crazy that this author throws down, and when it’s the dark kind I’m all in and even though both Easton and Charlotte drove me batshitcrazy in equal measure, I was hooked. I kept turning the pages to see what would, or wouldn’t, happen next and was definitely not disappointed. Now, as I’ve already said, Charlotte and Easton drove me batshitcrazy, and they did, but they also fascinated me. ***4 Stars*** Ohhh, this one did my head in. It really did. The story hooked me from the first page. I NEEDED to know what was going and kept turning the pages to see how everything unfolded. But, man, Dixie and Brandon gave me a run for my money (or sanity). Their turbulent (total understatement) relationship had me wanting to toss the #Kindle into the freezer, even as I couldn’t wait to see them get their HEA. It was dark, dirty and heart breaking, but it was addictive. Brandon and Dixie tried me. HARD. I cannot remember a couple of characters who drove me this nuts...together.
