***4 ‘Studio 54’ Stars***
It’s taken me a good 24 hours plus to get my head on straight in regards to how I felt about this book, not in a bad way ~ as you can see by the rating ~ because I loved watching not only Trevor and Veronica’s relationship evolve. It was fun, sweet, smexy and I was honestly rooting for them to be get their shite straight and be together in the end, that part was easy. It was the whole “past mistakes and indiscretions” part that gave me pause and the need to contemplate just where I stood on the issue.
Trevor is an unrepentant womanizer, or manwhore if you prefer, and ensures than everyone ~ male or female ~ is well aware that he will never be in a committed relationship. This man. There were many times when I wanted to smack him upside with a two by four for his views on women, relationships etc and yet I couldn’t fault him either because he truly believed in them. What saved him though was that he did have a good heart and honorable core, even if it did go sideways at times, and as the book progressed so did his outlook at what he truly wanted out of life.
After her marriage ended in a not so pleasant divorce, Veronica is finally ready to truly move on with her life, which includes a new job, new digs and a new outlook on her life. I loved Veronica. She is vivacious, a little quirky, hard working and has a good heart. Her honesty about how she saw herself and the changes she wanted to make for herself was refreshing and I enjoyed watching her work at become the woman she wanted to be.
Trevor and Veronica’s road to their HEA was a fun one to watch as the tried to keep each other friend zoned but failed miserably. It wasn’t only the physical pull between them that guaranteed they’d cross the line despite their best efforts, it was the fact that they genuinely liked each other and the ease in which they were able to open up to each other and truly see how the other ticked. And then there is that huge pothole in the road, the one that had me needing to take a step back and contemplate my feelings about it. I must say that I am still waffling over how I feel about it alll. I know many will have a black and white stance on it, but I’m in the gray about it because I can see how one could come to the reason given for it. Vague? Yes, but this whole situation is one where you must taken in all sides of the story and make your own decision, even if you stand in the gray. In the end, while I would have liked a little more groveling, I am happy with where Trevor and Veronica ended up.
This is my first read by Barbie Bohrman and I thoroughly enjoyed the ride. It was fun, sweet, smexy and had me really examining how I’d deal with certain situations should I ever have to experience them. The characters were all well written and I loved the good, the bad, the funny and the ugly they brought to the book. I would have liked a little more resolution on the mom situation, but overall I liked how everything ended up and am quite curious to see what is in store for the next Allen brother.

As this unlikely pair spends more and more time together, they quickly realize that there might be something between them that goes past "just friends." But there’s just one tiny detail that makes this situation slightly more complicated… Trevor was Veronica’s ex-husband’s best man at their wedding nine years ago.
So when past mistakes and indiscretions come back to haunt them, will their happily ever after end before it even gets started?
Born and raised in Miami, Florida, Barbie Bohrman dreamed of becoming an author. Long after she had given up, a book club’s prologue contest enticed her to give it one more go. What emerged were the beginnings of her debut novel, Promise Me. Now she’s living her dream and writing stories that entice readers to escape and break away from reality. When she’s not writing, you can find her trying to get through the books on her Kindle (more than a thousand at last count) or watching Lost or Seinfeld. She currently resides in New Jersey with her husband, two children, and two dogs.
