~**~ ARC Review Walk of Shame (Love Unexpectedly #4) by Lauren Layne ~**~

***4 ‘Perfectly Ridiculous’ Stars***

After my tepid feelings towards Love Story I was a bit hesitant to dive into Walk of Shame, something I hate to admit but truth is truth. But my wonky Libra nature urged me to give it a go because it IS LL after all, and one off’s happen, so I did and I devoured this book. It was a fun, smexy rom com that had a good dose of angst that was tempered by heart and sweetness.

Georgie was raised with a silver spoon in her mouth and to the world at large is a party girl celebutante, but that’s only the tip of the iceberg. I honestly loved Georgie. She was comfortable in her own skin and owned her lifestyle. She may be a party girl, but that isn’t all she is. She has a huge heart and sees people for who they are, not their status. She’s witty, kind and compassionate even when she’s attempting to be sneaky.

Andrew is a high powered divorce attorney who likes his world to be a nicely regimented to the point where his whole world can go sideways should one little thing not fall in line. Oh Logan. I didn’t know what to think about him at first, but as things progress and we find out more about his past I did end up liking him more and more. He’s got a good heart, is smexy as hell, but suffers from ‘foot in mouth’ disease...a lot.

Their opposites attract rollercoaster of a relationship was all kinds of fun and frustrating in equal measure, but I loved how they got under each others skins and have them tripping over themselves to figure out what was going on between them. I would have liked a little more of Andrew, and I know that’s vague, but there is so much to him that I feel we only got the tip of the iceberg (visualize that book vs movie meme with said iceberg). Did it change how I felt at the end? No, it didn’t affect my rating, but had we gotten more it would have definitely bumped it up. Regardless of that, I really enjoyed Andy and Georgie together. They’re bantering was witty and I loved them when they started to open up and relax with each other. The relationship bomb was a big one, but I liked how it all played out and how they got back together made me all kinds of twitterpated.
The writing flowed well and the pacing of the story was good. I thought the movie references were well used throughout the book, especially since one of my favorite movies was also one of Georgie’s. The use of 1st person POV and 3rd person POV was well done. Overall this was a fun read filled with heart and a good dose of heat and it is a true standalone so you can dive on in without having read the previous books in the series.

Sparks fly between a misunderstood New York socialite and a cynical divorce lawyer in this lively standalone rom-com from the USA Today bestselling author of Blurred Lines and Love Story.

Pampered heiress Georgianna Watkins has a party-girl image to maintain, but all the shopping and clubbing is starting to feel a little bit hollow—and a whole lot lonely. Though Georgie would never admit it, the highlights of her week are the mornings when she comes home at the same time as her uptight, workaholic neighbor is leaving to hit the gym and put in a long day at the office. Teasing him is the most fun Georgie’s had in years—and the fuel for all her naughtiest daydreams.

Celebrity divorce attorney Andrew Mulroney doesn’t have much time for women, especially spoiled tabloid princesses who spend more time on Page Six than at an actual job. Although Georgie’s drop-dead gorgeous, she’s also everything Andrew resents: the type of girl who inherited her penthouse instead of earning it. But after Andrew caps one of their predawn sparring sessions with a surprise kiss—a kiss that’s caught on camera—all of Manhattan is gossiping about whether they’re a real couple. And nobody’s more surprised than Andrew to find that the answer just might be yes.

She writes smart romantic comedies with just enough sexy-times to make your mother blush, and in her ideal world, every stiletto-wearing, Kate Spade wielding woman would carry a Kindle stocked with Lauren Layne books.
When not bringing The Sexy, she likes to blog about her Instagram addiction, and why mean girls are the worst.
