~**~ ARC Review: Last First Kiss (Iron Clad Security #2) by Sidney Halston ~**~

***4 ‘Tiger’ Stars***

I really enjoyed everything about Kiss Marry Kill from the writing style to the characters to how everything played out and couldn’t wait to get my hands on the next in the series. So it’s no surprise that I jumped at the chance to read Last First Kiss, especially when I saw that we’d get to read about a female bodyguard mixing it up. And just as with the first book, I was hooked right from the start and it was all kinds of sweet, smexy and even heartbreaking at times, but lemme tell you there were also many moments of me wanting to do bodily harm to some of the characters, but all of this kept me turning the pages to see how everything would work itself out in the end.

I loved Annie, our kickass body guard. She’s motivated, intelligent, sassy and not afraid to mix it up with the guys, especially when those guys are her brothers. She’s been to hell and back and survived, but the experience left her with scars that caused her build an almost impenetrable fortress around herself. And though she can be a bit harsh and appear to have a chip on her shoulder, it’s only because she wants to be looked at as being capable, which she is, instead of being treated with kid gloves.

I had a bit of a time with Rocco, but overall loved the man. Despite his A-list status, he isn’t a Diva. He can appear that way, but at heart he’s still the same person he was before he was discovered. He’s charming, sincere, compassionate and has a good heart, and along with that heart comes the need to protect and take care of those he calls his own.

Annie and Rocco gave me a good dose of whiplash at the start of their relationship, but with all that was going on between them and around Rocco, it was to be expected. But I really enjoyed watching as trust was built between them and  how they were behind closed doors. My patience was tested though when they stepped out in public, let’s just say I was totally #TeamAnnie and that Rocco was not the only person I wanted to do bodily harm to. But, again that tension was to be expected. With all the bumps in their road, when the BIG one came it wasn’t a total surprise and though I expected/wanted a lot more grovelling than there was, I was pleased with how everything worked out.

This was a fun, quick read and I thought the suspense element was very well done. The author kept things simple but interesting enough to hold my interest to see how everything would unfold. The secondary characters were all well written, I wouldn’t mind a book on Paul and I’m hoping Ben get’s his own down the road, though it was Joey who garnered most of my attention, but not all of it was for good reasons even if I could understand his reasons behind his actions. But that being said, I am curious about him and can’t wait to see who the next book will be about!

USA Today bestselling author Sidney Halston lives her life by one simple rule: "Just Do It" - Nike. And that's exactly what she did. After working hard as an attorney, Sidney picked up a pen for the first time at thirty years old to begin her dream of writing. Having never written anything other than very exciting legal briefs, she found an outlet for her imaginative, romantic side and wrote Seeing Red. That first pen stroke sealed the deal, and she fell in love with writing. Sidney lives in South Florida with her husband and children. She loves her family above all else, and reading follows a close second. When she's not writing, you can find her reading and reading and reading. She's a reader first and a writer second. When she's not writing or reading, her life is complete and utter chaos, trying to balance family life with work and writing (and reading). But she wouldn't have it any other way.
