***5 ‘Don’t Stop Talkin’” Stars***
In all honesty I wasn’t prepared for what Bad For You put me through. I knew there would be feels, it was unavoidable considering what had already happened, or didn’t happen, between Stitch and Shayla, but I wasn’t prepared for all of THAT. I hit both ends of the feels spectrum, as well as everything in between, numerous times throughout the story and in the end I wouldn’t change any of it because the journey was so damn worth it.
I’m not ashamed to say that I’ve wanted more of Stitch from the moment I met him in Four Letter Word. I love me some broody male with a passion, and dear lord Stitch is the fucking emperor of broody bastards, but what made him that way absolutely gutted me. But what amazed me, and had me falling into adoration with the broody male, was the golden heart that lay underneath the armour. The simple and genuine goodness, along with a very blunt honesty, had me falling hard for the man.
Shayla. This girl. I really liked her. Hell, I ended up adoring her, but OMG the peppiness (is that even a word?) took me a minute to get used to. It wasn’t that she was being fake, she really is a little ball of pep and positivity, it was just in a couple of situations I needed more snark and not pep. But as things progressed the pep became normal and I loved how huge her heart was because once she claimed you, she’d fight to her last breath for you.
Sean and Shayla’s journey could have taken any number of routes to their HEA, but this one fit the people who they are at their cores. There was a good dose of drama, but not the OTT angsty kind, that only served to bring about understanding and bringing them closer instead of tearing them apart. I loved the slow build nature of their evolving relationship because I got to watch as they got to know each other on the deepest of emotional levels as the sexual chemistry kept building between them. As for the big roadblock in their journey, I saw it coming but it took a little twist that I didn’t expect, but really liked and had I not gotten to know these characters I probably would have tossed my ereader into the freezer, but I understood it and loved how everything worked out in the end.
While I never like to pigeon hole myself in anyway way, I have to say that this may just go down as my favorite of the series. Everything from the character’s backstories to their evolution throughout the book was done so well that the bar has been set. With that being said, I know that there is more to come from the Dirty Deeds world, and there is one character I’m hoping will get his HEA *cough* Nate *cough*, so I may be eating my words sooner rather than later, but should it happen I will gladly do it. So bring on the next book!
