More time hanging out with the various characters I met in Seaside and more importantly time with Megan and Theo because after all they both went through I just need to see how the rest of their HEA plays out and be there through the ups and downs and watch as they work through it together.
The funny thing about Megan and Theo is that they have both gone through their own hell, find themselves in their own special purgatory and are too stubborn, as well as too brutally honest with themselves, to fully lay down and die. This isn’t to say that they weren’t their own worst enemies, because they are, but they have a special sort of determination to exist and stay right where they want to be. I’ll admit that it drove me a little batshit crazy, and yet I got it, I empathized with them, even as I couldn’t wait to see what the catalyst would be that would shove them out of their self imposed cages.
Their journey, both on a personal level and the one to their HEA, was a lot more fun that I thought it would be. I know, I know, I’m a full on advocate of going with the flow, but after their first collision I couldn’t help it, I was all “Oh boy, here we go.” But I was wrong. Their journey was nothing like I expected and yet it was perfect for Megan and Theo. The connection between them was palpable, and it was blatantly obvious that they could have something more if they allowed it. With their plethora of issues there was no way the journey could be anything but rocky, and they definitely had their moments ~ and let me tell you they were MOMENTS ~ but where they were at in the end was absolutely worth it.
I’m not sure what else to say without tripping into the verbal vomit-y Hi I’m a broken record oops I may have spoiled something realm, so I’ll simply say Midnight Valentine was an experience. I’ve read a good cross section of the authors books and this one may just be my absolute favorite. It was engaging, the storyline was well thought out and executed and the drama was well balanced out with humor and heart.
If you love second chance romance and well written characters then this is a definite must read!
