~**~ ARC Review: Rescuing Wendy (Delta Force Heroes #8) by Susan Stoker ~**~

***5 Stars***

And we have another winner on our hands!

Not that anyone is surprised, least of all me, since this is my favorite of all the author’s series, but things go a little...differently in this one than the norm. There’s still all the swoons, melting and heart pumping suspense, but there was a different feel with this one that I really liked. I know I’m being vague right out of the chute, but…

Anyways, on to Blade aka Aspen and Wendy. I loved Blade. He’s open, honest ~ even if it doesn’t always help his cause ~ and is simply an honorable guy. He has his moments, like anyone else, but even when he goes a little sideways, he’s still a good man. Wendy. I loved her, I did. She’s sweet, compassionate and has gentle soul. Add on the fact that she’s raised her brother on her own for a decade and you have a pretty amazing person on your hands. She has her...issues, and though they drove me nuts, I understood where she was coming from.

I loved the way Blade and Wendy first connect and how it went from a telemarketing call to them meeting and then more. There was an ease to their interactions and it made it easy to see how good they could be for each other. There was an underlying issue that was always between them and as things progressed and they became more, it because a huge wall and I hate how that wall was finally toppled, but I’m not necessarily mad at either of them for it. I know, I know: vague and verbal vomity, but you really should expect it from me by now. In the end though, it was a necessary evil and I loved the path it set them on in the end.

As with all of the authors books, she takes on issues that have become quite prevalent in our society and the ones that she touches on here will be triggers for some, but they are dealt with honestly and respectfully. There is a bit of a twist in this one that I didn’t see coming, but I liked it. It was something that has been brewing for awhile and it was interesting to see how all the parties involved dealt with it. Since this is my favorite series, hanging with the Delta Force guys and their women is always fun and of course Annie, but to say that I’m excited that Truck and Mary’s book is next is an understatement. I’ve been looking forward to them ever since they met in Rescuing Rayne and it looks like it’s gonna be hell of a ride!

Aspen “Blade” Carlisle is the last of his Delta Force team to find love…and he’s pretty bummed about that fact. Which might explain why he finds himself chatting up a telemarketer as if she’s a long-lost friend. But Wendy is surprisingly easy to talk to, so when they go from occasional calls during her work, to nightly conversations on their cells, it somehow feels right. So right, Blade eventually convinces the funny, sweet woman to meet him in person.

When their first face-to-face meeting gets high-jacked, Wendy Tucker is sure she and Aspen made a big mistake in taking their relationship to the next level. But the man is nothing if not persistent. Before long, Wendy’s allowing the handsome soldier to spend more time with her and Jack, the teen brother she’s raising, than anyone she’s ever dated. Though she knows there are limits to how close she can get to Aspen, no matter how much she likes him. Limits carefully constructed to protect Wendy and Jack from a past they’ve been running from for years.

But dating Blade means having an entire team of Deltas at her back. Which may come in handy not just with Wendy’s past…but also when her brother faces a current threat.

**Rescuing Wendy is the 8th book in the Delta Force Heroes Series. Each book is a stand-alone, with no cliffhanger endings.

Release Date: May 8th, 2018
