***4 Stars***

Ever since stumbling upon Maybe Never (the original cover was the bait) I’ve been a fangirl of the author, so when she announced Always Been You, which would not be YA and the start of a new series, I was all about getting my hands on it and I must admit that, overall, I really enjoyed it. I was hooked from the start, even if it did have me cringing, and found that, even though one thing drove me a bit BSC, I had a difficult time putting it down and really liked how everything turned out in the end..

Braz and Emma. Braz is a really good man, a little...blind at times, but a good man. He’s taken on a lot of responsibility over the years, and while there are thing or two he may wish he hadn’t taken on, he owns it and does the best he can. As for Emma...I liked her. I did. At her very core, she is a good person with a good heart, but she made my eyes hurt with how much she had me rolling them due to her actions, or inactions. I understood why she thought what she did and why it affected her so deeply, but at the same time I wanted to reach out and Gibbs smack some sense into her. Thankfully, she does have a lightbulb moment, and finally started to become the woman she was meant to be..

As for Emma and Braz’s journey to their HEA. It’s not hard to assume that with my frustrations with Emma, that it made for an interesting time for me, because it did, but Braz also did a few things that drove me a little BSC as well. But what I will say is that when they were just being themselves and forgetting about everything that had happened and was happening outside of them, I did like them together. There was an easy to them that showed that if they only dropped their walls and put everything out there, they’d have a good base to build from for their future..

There was a lot going on in this one. From bring the town of Cedar Lake and its inhabitants to life to the twists and turns within the main plot line to setting up what looks to be a couple of future romances, it was a lot to take in, but it has me wanting more. The cast of characters that inhabit the town are quite interesting and unique and I’m looking forward to getting to know Bridgette, Ophelia, Kody and Brandt more as well as spending more time with Ginny..
