~**~ ARC Review: The South Winds (Turquoise Isle #1) by Allison Mullinax ~**~

***5 ‘Always’ Stars***

This was a quick, second chance romance read packed with all the feels. All. Of. Them. That I devoured in no time at all and has me wanting to spend a lot more time in Turquoise Isle.

It was easy to get lost in Cassie and Dean’s story because they felt real. Like they were two people you’d find yourself sitting next to at a bar and striking up a conversation with. Good people with good hearts, even if those hearts are a little battered and bruised. Their second chance at love journey pulled me in right from the start and as they constantly collided and danced around each other I found myself getting totally invested in them and wanting to not only find out what tore them apart, but also see them come back together because there was a pull between them that couldn’t be denied. What I enjoyed the most about their dance was that while things were awkward at times and the pain they’d been living with would show itself in bursts of anger, the angst was low and they actually acted like adults as as best as they could given the circumstances and in the end I really liked how things ended up for both of them.

Ms. Mullinax reeled me in with a romance based in the Bass pro world, so not expected, and pulled me in a little more with a time travel romance, but I am now firmly a fangirl after reading The South Winds. It is a quick read, think novella length, but it packs a punch in a very no muss no fuss sort of way. Everything was well thought out and executed from Dean and Cassie’s pasts and how they worked through everything. Also, the supporting cast of characters were all unique and well written, my fav is Jonah, but I really enjoyed all of them (though I’d like to meet Clay BSEG). So, I’m really looking forward to seeing where the author takes this series!

Dean Alexander left Turquoise Isle eight years ago and never looked back. With his sister’s wedding approaching, and a hurricane churning in the Gulf, Dean returns home, where he’s welcomed with a rip tide of memories determined to pull him under.

Will Cassie and Dean make it through the crashing waves of the past? Will they get a second chance before it's too late or will the storm ahead be too much for them to handle?
