It's just business, nothing personal.
Until you have to work with your ex.
Nothing Personal, an all-new standalone romantic comedy by New York Times Bestselling author Karina Halle is live!

Nova Lane is having the worst week possible. Her latest relationship ended while on her much-needed vacation, then upon her first day back at work, she learns that her beloved boss has quit – and despite having worked so hard for it, she's not being considered for his position.
Who is being considered for the position is none other than Kessler Rocha. Her ex-coworker and ex-lover, Kessler’s the man who broke her heart five years earlier and the reason she moved thousands of miles away, switched jobs, and created numerous voodoo dolls in Kessler’s (very burly, very handsome) liking.
Yup. Worst week ever.
New in town and on her turf, Kessler promises he’s not the same man he was – and considering he’s now a single father to a precocious toddler, he’s telling the truth.
But he’s still an arrogant, devilish and dangerously intelligent man who’s taking over the position Nova feels she deserves. The fact that he’s gotten even more sexy over the years doesn’t help either.
Now Nova and Kessler have the choice to let bygones be bygones, or fight with each other every chance they get, with unresolved sexual tension only adding fuel to the flames, creating a fire that might just burn down the whole office.
In the corporate world they say it’s just business, nothing personal.
Nova and Kessler are about to show just how personal things can get.

***5 ‘Leprechaun’ Stars***

This book had it all for me!

A little bit of sweet, a little bit of angstyness, a good dose is smexy and ton of laughter and a whole lot of heart which when it was combined with some great characters - as well as a few unique stars who stole the show - and it being set in my island home...well, this one was all kinds of goodness that had me devouring it in no time flat and wanting more!

I have to say, Nova and Kessler definitely took me for a wild ride, a fun one overall, but a ride. These two are complex and yet easy to connect with at the same time. I really liked Nova. She’s driven, intelligent, sassy, and sweet. She is a bit..hard headed, but considering the bruises on her heart, I couldn’t find fault with how she viewed the world. Kessler is a good man, and I really liked him, but there were somethings that he was...I don’t want to say clueless, because he is pretty on it most of the time, but more short sighted?? And that made him both frustrating, yet endearing which made him quite fascinating all around.

Nova and Kessler’s journey to their HEA was definitely a crazy one, but despite their very convoluted past, it wasn’t as angsty as I thought it would be. Yes, this is under the RomCom umbrella, but even RomCom’s can be angsty. This isn’t to say that there weren’t moments between the two that didn’t have me rolling my eyes, because there were, but they were far and few between. Things were intense between them all around, but more of the push/pull and still be civil variety. The funny thing is that throughout the story, I waffled on whose team I was on as the details of the pasts were unfolded and I finally got the big HD version of all that happened between them, and honestly they were both equal participants in it all, so I never truly chose a side (except for one situation ~ and we’re getting to that), but found that they were pretty much perfect for each other and I really wanted them to work through it all and be together. Now for the one time I chose a side. It was pretty huge deal, even I can’t deny that, and understood all the reactions and what not, but I when it all came down to it, I was firmly #TeamNova. FIRMLY. And the way things worked out after only had me loving her even more.

Now, I loved Kess and Nova, but what really made this book a 5 star for me were some of the situations they found themselves in that, being born and raised on O’ahu, I could totally relate to because I’ve been in those situations and honestly reacted in the same way (Except for the chicken thing. That has never happened to me. EVER) But the others. Yeah, been there done that and I do hate to admit it, but had similar reactions to Kess...still do honestly, but those little vignettes, along with how much the author simply loves and respects my island home, made this read so much fun for me. It definitely made me feel as if I were home with my family just hanging out, eating, drinking and praying for those trade winds to kick up.

As for the supporting cast of characters, they were all very well written and with the exception of one, who actually added a really interesting twist to the story, I loved them all. They definitely gave a lot of depth to the story and helped to bring out that island feel that you can only find in Hawaii (IMHO) and I wouldn’t mind if a couple of them got their own HEA’s in the future because they definitely deserve to get them.

So, if you’re looking for a laugh out loud RomCom that will take you away to a sandy beach this winter, then this is a definite must read!
