Blurb:
Eight years ago, I gave Grayson Price a piece of my heart.
To him, I was the strange girl whose mom had just abandoned her. To me, he was a savior, an anchor, someone who stood beside me on that beach.
The next time I saw him, I was twenty, and he was thirty-six.
He didn't remember me. And when he flirted... I didn't tell him.
By the time he found out, it was too late. We tried to deny our desire, but our attraction was too enticing.
Eight years ago, I gave Grayson Price a piece of my heart.
Too bad he’s my dad’s best friend.

***4 Stars***

I do love me some forbidden/age gap lovin’, so when this baby popped up I decided to give it a go and though it did drag for me in some spots, in the end I really enjoyed River and Grayson’s journey. It was fun, frustrating, sweet, smexy and swoon worthy and when everything was said and done, I found myself wanting to spend more time with them and their families.

I loved River and Grayson, I did, but the baggage these two carried around wa heavy. River is a mix of bold and mischievous and vulnerable and stand-offish. Her heart was bruised at a young age and she has used it as a reason to keep people at arms length even when she obviously wants to pull them closer. Grayson is a grump. He really is, but he’s also a grump who truly does care about those he calls his own, even if won’t allow himself to show it.

Their journey was definitely and interesting one. There is a lot of push/pull going on. A lot of misunderstandings, but also a lot of healing as well. The funny thing about River and Grayson was that they were actually battling the same demons and ended up being just what the other never knew they needed to face those demons. River helped to soften Gray’s rough edges, while Gray gave River someone she could lean on and know that he would always be in her corner.

This was my first read by the author and I really enjoyed it. As I said at the start, there were some places that dragged for me, but they didn’t affect how I felt about River and Grayson. And while I’m happy with how things ended up, I do wish there had been a little more time spent in the end tying up some of the issues in the story - this isn’t to say that the don’t get dealt with, because they do, I would just liked a little bit more. And as for the supporting cast of characters, all were well written, but Jaxson was the one who peaked my interest the most and I’m crossing my toes that he gets his own HEA in the future!
