***4 ‘Banana & Ribbit’ Stars***
Funny, snort out loud funny at times. Sweet, OTT, eye roll inducing…
This baby had it all and then some.
This cast of characters made sure I kept turning the pages to see just what would happen next.
I gotta say, I really liked April and Jack. April is going through a lot, but I loved her determination to be more. She does stumble along the way and definitely has to pick her battles, but she’s got it more together than she thinks. Jack is the planner. The Mr. Fix It and actually doesn’t do too badly when his plans go sideways, but he’s a good guy who is more than willing to put himself out there when necessary.
Their journey to their HEA was a lot of fun. It was slow burn, forced proximity ~ I mean totally “forced” ~ single parent goodness. But all of that combined did force April and Jack to see each other as more, especially when they are thrown into quite a few unexpected situations. I loved their bantering, they definitely had chemistry and I just liked their flow. The bump in their road wasn’t unexpected, but I definitely didn’t see how they got back together coming, but it was awesome and I was happy with how everything worked out for them.
I have to say that I don’t think I’ve ever read a book, a single parent one at that, where I thought “Oh, that’s not gonna work out well” so. Many. Times. OMG. And the first one was doozy because I was actually shaking my head saying “No. Don’t do it” outloud lol. But Harmony, Rohan and Lola were all kinds of crazy and sweet and Mayonnaise definitely made her presence known. It was nice to catch up with Rachel and Travis and having Sadie in the mix was nice little connection to the Mile High crew. But Yelena and Simone were amazing and Kitty...this woman is a force, she can’t out do Babushka in my book, but she’s pretty damn close.

April Davis totally has her life in order. Ha! Not really. Yes, she’s the Calm Mom—a social influencer with a reputation for showing moms how to stay calm and collected through yoga—but behind the scenes, she’s barely holding it all together. Raising tiny humans alone is exhausting, but that’s just the chewed-up cherry on the melted sundae of her life. Her kids aren’t behaving, her husband left her for his skydiving instructor, and her top knot proves she hasn’t showered in days. Then a live video of the “always calm” April goes viral...and she’s most definitely not. Enter Jack Gibson, April’s contact at the media conglomerate that has purchased April’s brand. The too-sexy-for-his-own good Jack will help clean up April’s viral mess, and even work with her to expand her influence, but toddler tea parties and a dog with a penchant for peeing on his shoes were definitely not part of the deal.
Now April’s calm has jumped ship quicker than her kids running from their vegetables. Not to mention, the sparks flying between her and Jack have her completely out of her depth. Forget finding her calm—April’s going to need a boatload of margaritas just to find her way back to herself again.
