Oh my heart.
I mean I knew going in that my heart would shatter at some point and that the author would piece it back together , but I didn’t expect THAT because…whoa.
But before I go on and on about THAT let’s get on with the Asher and Faith.
I gotta say, I freakin’ adored Faith and Asher. I loved Faith’s blunt honesty, sass and just how genuine she was. Asher was all kinds of protective and stubborn and had a huge heart, even when he tried to say he didn’t.
Their journey to the their HEA was definitely unique in how it started, and had its fair share of bumps in the road, but they both just worked for me. I loved their bantering, the chemistry between them was intense, but I thoroughly enjoyed watching them get to know each other and become more to each other than they knew was ever possible.
The funny thing about this book is that I ended up reading it as I was flying to Hawaii to visit my family for the first time in 5 years and there were themes in there that truly spoke to me, like ‘ohana - the one you were born into and the one you created - and how there is something about these islands that can heal your soul. As for the secondary characters, I truly enjoyed them all and how much life they brought to the story. As for THAT thing - yeah it was brutal and I am getting teary thing about it - but I give her props for going there.
