The title was the lure, the description was the hook and I am happy to say that this book did not disappoint! I was all in from the first chapter and couldn’t stop turning the pages to see what would happen next between Sienna and Ben and what it would take for them to get their HEA.
I adored Sienna and Ben, Sienna a tinsy bit more, but they were both great characters. Sienna is sweet, sassy and knows what she wants her future to look like. She’s had an interesting upbringing and does tend to have rose colored glasses on in certain situations, but she isn’t afraid to speak her mind when necessary. Ben has demons he’s dealing with and doesn’t always know how to work through them, but he’s got a good head on his shoulders and a heart that may be bruised, but is also quite golden.
Their journey to their HEA was definitely an interesting one from the ex-boyfriend thing to the toddler & baby mama situation, but throughout it all, I really liked Sienna and Ben as a couple ~ even before the “fake” couple thing happened. They had the kind of flow that had me rooting for them from the start. The bumps in their road weren’t a surprise and while there were a few that had me growling, I liked how each one brought them closer and opened their eyes, and hearts, to the fact that they were meant to be together.
This was a fun read overall. There are situations that may be triggers to some, but each one does help with both Ben and Sienna’s character growth. I will admit that I didn’t read the first book in the series, I have it on the Kindle so will get to that baby soon, and having not read it didn’t mar my enjoyment of the book. As for the secondary cast of characters: Liliana was absolutely adorable, though her mom was…meh. But I really liked Olly, Johnny may be a bit of an acquired taste, but I can’t say I didn’t like him and Maggie was awesome. So, I will be reading about Gabby and Rider as soon as I can and being on the lookout for the next book in the series!
