***5 ‘Breakdown to Breakthrough’ Stars***
I KNEW this one would be frustrating as all get out before diving in. I mean, how couldn’t it be after being around Chaya and Ben through all the books in the series, but the frustration was definitely balanced out by the sweet, smexy and heartstring pulling moments, as well as some fun/funny ones and I am really sad to say good-bye to this crew.
Ben and Chaya. I loved and adored these two. Both are sweet and always ready to step in to help those they call their own, but boy did they both have a lot of growing to do in order to figure out who they wanted to be and be with. I will admit that I did tend to be more frustrated with Chaya vs. Ben, but I also understood why she was so conflicted, even when she pretended she wasn’t. But in the end, I loved how everything worked out for them.
I know this is a vague review, but if I didn’t keep it short and sweet it would have turned into a dissertation, and still may, but what a great way to end the series (which I wish wasn’t ending). The tragedy was a surprise and one that definitely did not make me happy. Faith plays a huge role in this story, but it’s not in a preachy sort of way. It’s an important part of Chay’s whole being and important to her personal growth. And then there is the Sad Friday crew and Nan. Having been on this journey from day one, seeing how everyone has and still are evolving into the best people they can be has been a lot of fun ~ frustrating as well ~ but fun and to see them all rally around each other was amazing. I’m sad that this is the last book, but I’m crossing my toes that we’ll get little updates on them in some form down the road.

Meet Scarlett Cole
Born in England, spent time in the U.S. and Japan, before ending up in Canada where I met my own, personal hero – all six and a half feet of him. Both of us are scorpios! Yeah, I know! Should have checked the astrological signs earlier, but somehow it works for us. We have two amazing kids, who I either could never part with or could easily be convinced to sell on e-bay.
I’ve wanted to be a writer for a really long time. Check through my office cupboards or my computer and you’ll find half written stories and character descriptions everywhere. Now I'm getting the chance to follow that dream.
I am represented by Beth Phelan at The Bent Agency, NY.
