As a woman born into an Irish crime family, I'm expendable.
It's why I've extricated myself from that life.
Only now, I'm wrapped up in another one when I witness the death of the president of a motorcycle outlaw club.
And the club's sergeant at arms has declared himself as my protector... Or stalker.
And I can't decide if he terrifies or excites me.
Spark:
Too many people have died on my watch in Kabul and New Jersey.
My conscience can't carry the weight of one more. Especially a pretty young thing with eyes that pierce my truths.
But her family is our enemy. One of many.
And she hates the things I pride myself in standing for.
Until she needs me to play her family's deadly game. A game to ruin us all.
***5 “It’s a Bit Messed Up, and Yet Charming” Stars***
That actually describes this book perfectly…mind you the “bit messed up” is an understatement of epic proportions considering the MC thing, the Irish mafia thing and then the crazy going on outside of those two worlds, but Iris and Spark’s journey is charming, fun, funny, smexy and hit all the right buttons for me.
I adored Iris and Spark. Iris is a little bit of everything. Sweet, sassy and determined…and patient, very patient. She’s experienced loss and a world most people only get glimpses of, but never truly enter. She wants a ‘normal’ life, but has ties that bind her to a world she wants to leave behind. Spark is a really good man, despite his stalkerish tendencies. Loyal, stubborn, blunt. He’s got his own demons, ones that drive him to be the ultimate protector, even when it goes against all that he holds dear.
Their journey to their HEA was a lot of fun to be a part of, despite how they initially met ~ which was definitely not a meet cute type scenario. But the chemistry between them is intense and though their separate worlds do not want them together, they find that the pull between them cannot be denied and they throw caution to the wind. I liked their flow, their bantering was a lot of fun and they are HAWT together. The bumps in their journey are many, but I liked the way they navigated through it all and came out stronger together and as individuals in the end.
This was a great read, and a great addition to the series. Triggers abound in this one, so reader beware, but it all is necessary for the storyline and the characters growth. And speaking of characters. You all know I’m a sucker for a strong family style dynamic, and this gave me that in spades. I loved catching up with Clutch and Gwen, getting to see King grow as the Prez, and just hanging out with the Iron Outlaws as a whole was a lot of fun. I have a personal fascination with Niro, but am totally looking forward to Saint’s book and seeing how that all plays out, because if this one was intense, his is going to be insane!

Meet S. Cole
Born in England, spent time in the U.S. and Japan, before ending up in Canada where I met my own, personal hero – all six and a half feet of him. Both of us are scorpios! Yeah, I know! Should have checked the astrological signs earlier, but somehow it works for us. We have two amazing kids, who I either could never part with or could easily be convinced to sell on e-bay.
I’ve wanted to be a writer for a really long time. Check through my office cupboards or my computer and you’ll find half written stories and character descriptions everywhere. Now I'm getting the chance to follow that dream.
I am represented by Beth Phelan at The Bent Agency, NY.
