This is a great start to a new series! The grumpy/sunshine trope is one of my favs and done quite well here. Add to that two adorable kiddos and all the small town vibes I love and we have a world I’m totally looking forward to visiting again and getting to know all the unique characters that much better.
I adored Veronica and Austin. Veronica aka Ronnie, is awesome. Sweet, honest and fierce. Watching as she finds herself again was a lot of fun. Austin is a grump, but he comes by it honestly, he just likes order. But his heart is golden and will do anything for his family and friends.
Their journey to their HEA was a lot of fun to experience, frustrating at times, but fun because the more they try to stay away from each other and keep things friendly, the more the chemistry builds until they have no choice but to give in. They definitely deal with quite a few bumps in their journey, but when they just relaxed (well, when Austin relaxed) they had a great flow and I just really enjoyed watching them get to know each other and fall in love, so the bumps, while frustrating, we worth it in the end to see these two get their HEA.
As I said at the start, this is a great start to a new series. It has all the goodness I love in a romance and then some. The pacing was good and there was a good balance between heat, humor and drama. As for the supporting cast of characters, Adelaide and Owen were adorable and I loved the crew over at Moe’s, but I’m all in to see Xander, Mabel and the two other Buckley’s we have yet to meet, fall to cupids arrow, as well as a few others we got to meet. So, I can’t wait to get my hands on the next book in the series and see if my one guess at a future couple comes true :).
