All Too Well by Corinne Michaels is now live!
For as long as I can remember, Lachlan West has been my brother’s best friend and the love of my life. Trouble is, he kissed me four years ago and then never spoke to me again.
I was doing great pretending he doesn’t exist until I was assigned to write an article about former college athletes and I learn that the sexy single-dad is my first interview.
Determined to wow my editor with an amazing sportsball piece. (Have I mentioned I know nothing about sports?) I head to Ember Falls, ready to face my fears—and the man I love.
The grumpy quarterback turned fireman wants nothing to do with me or my article. Yet, somehow I persuade him to let me follow him around for a few weeks, and even if he said yes just to get rid of me, I’ll take it.
But the longer I stay in his small town, the more complicated our story gets. The boundaries we set fall to the ground—along with our clothes.
He holds me like I matter, touches me like I’m cherished and kisses me like he loves me.
We both know I have to leave Ember Falls, and he’ll never follow—I only wish I could write a different ending to our story.
***5 Team Ainsley Stars***
This is a great start to a new series!
I loved Ainsely and Lachlan, Ainsley a teensy bit more, but still loved them both. Ainsley is sweet, sassy and has a fake it til you make it kind of attitude that I could appreciate and when she decides on something she’s all in and though is all kinds of sunshine, she isn’t blind to others faults but will give them benefit of the doubt. Lachlan is a really good man and good father who wants to give his little girl everything, but the ghosts of his past haunt him and make it difficult for him to bend just a little in certain situations.
Ainsley and Lachlan’s journey is a bumpy one for various reasons, but the one truth is that they are just really good together. While Ainsely was the pesky baby sister, she and Lachlan were friends and that friendship shines through with each interaction, and watching as they get to know each other again was awesome. Their bantering was a lot of fun and the heat between them was undeniable. The bumps in their road weren’t a surprise and while one of them did frustrate me to no end (it’s one the “things” people do that I dislike immensely) I understood it. But thankfully, with a little help from friends and family, things work out for them in the end.
This was a well written, character driven story. I loved being in both Ainsley and Lachlan’s heads as they work through their feelings for each other. There are some issues/situations that may be uncomfortable for some, but I wouldn’t put them in the TW bucket and they are handled well and necessary to the story. As for the supporting cast of characters. Rose is awesome! Hopefully we will get more of her as the series goes along and I’m actually curious about Delaney, but that one may need more time to simmer. But I loved Miles, Everett, Killian, Caspian and Hazel and cannot wait to get my hands on their books!
